principles to arrange the seven elements, so that a good composition is
achieved. Interior designing be a lot of fun by choosing all of your elements
and putting in the work yourself results to great pleasure when it comes time
to experience the end result. These seven interior design principles can assist
you on the correct path for developing our own stunning interior design.
BALANCE
Balance in interior design refers to the
proper distribution of object in room to create a visual balance or visual
weight with a composition. The balance is created when there is equilibrium of
elements that need each other and together they create unity. The lack of balance
visually makes tension and disturbs the harmony of composition.
RHYTHM
Rhythm is the visual flow of eye makes smooth
flow across the room. The design principles suggest that connected movement
between different parts of design by using colors, line, forms, also referred
to as continuity. Rhythm is a visual flow and creates a sense of movement
EMPHASIS
Principles of interior design that says that an
important one is emphasis, which is central piece of art or furniture, must
play the role of attention to grabber of a particular living space. Elements
like color, pattern and texture must be used to emphasize a particular space.
CONTRAST
It is the difference in the color or luminance
of objects that differentiates them from one another. In interior design, the contrast
can be achieved by three things namely space, form and color. Contrast can also
be achieved by combining two or more forms like adding furniture in corner areas, use pillows or prints of two opposite colors
like black and white to achieve contrast and make an object distinguishable.
SCALE AND PROPORTION
The principles of scale and proportion ensure
that properties placed in a space look like they belong to each other and makes
it a great attraction. For an example, placing pillows in sofas, placing different
sized flower vase on corner etc. Under
stuffed pillows would make a big sofa look empty and under accessorized, thus
disrupting the harmony and proportion that is supposed to exist.
UNITY
Unity achieved when all of the different
elements in a design work together to create a unified whole. The designers use
unity to make elements in a composition appear to belong together. A good
understanding of Alignment of objects, Similarity of color/pattern/texture,
Proximity of objects, Repetition of elements based on similarity, Continuation
of interior design elements is a few ways to achieve Unity.
DETAILS
Every detail adds a little bit of life to the
overall interior design, be
it the small embroideries on a pillow cover or the color within those
embroidery patterns. They give a special attraction to our eyes. Once you are
sure that you have achieved all of the above mentioned principles, it’s time
for details to take over and beautify the place further.
